Tyang Gelay’s Grill in Woodside is an absolute gem! We tried the Crispy Pata, Giant Bulalo, Palabok, and Grilled Tuna Belly, and every single dish was flavorful, authentic, and cooked to perfection. The Crispy Pata was golden and crunchy on the outside while staying tender inside, the Bulalo was rich and comforting, and the Tuna Belly had that perfect smoky grill taste. The Lumpia Sariwa (fresh) was also a standout—so refreshing and delicious that it’s a must-order. The portions are generous, the service is warm, and the overall vibe makes you feel right at home. Can’t wait to come back and try even more from the menu!

As a Filipino American who longs for the comforts of my past home, a meal at Tyang Gelay's is truly food for the soul. One of many Filipino restaurants in what is known as little Manila, Tyang Gelay's stands out with its made-to-order and authentic fare. Dining space is unassuming, clean and well-lit. Menu offers abundant Filipino dishes to choose from. My wife and I chose Crispy Pata (fried pork knuckles), Kalderetang Kambing (goat stew) and Ginisang Ampalaya.(suated bitter melon). The dishes came out rather quickly - a pleasant surprise since Filipino food takes time to prepare. The Crispy Pata was expertly cooked with an ultra crispy skin and melt-in-your-mouth blend of pork meat and fat. The soy dipping sauce was an excellent foil to the somewhat strong pork knuckle meat taste. The goat stew had a serving of tender chunks of goat meat which to anyone is oxymoronic, as tough as goat meat gets. Complemented by fresh red and green peppers and a rich savory and tangy sauce, it hit all the high notes. Sautéd bittersweet melon was the perfect palate cleanser, perfectly cooked with tomatoes and shrimps. Even the rice was better in quality than what most other restaurants serve. Tyang Gelay's hands down is one of the best Filipino restaurants I've dined at this side of the world. Short of flying to Manila, this is as good as it gets.

After experiencing homemade meals in the Philippines, I’ve struggled to find a Filipino restaurant that truly hits the mark. I was just passing by when something about this place caught my eye—it looked cute, so I walked in. That first impression? Just the beginning. The smell alone took me back to the Philippines—it felt like home. And the food? I got chills. I’m not kidding—goosebumps and that full-body moment of joy. It’s that good. Dishes I didn’t even like before? I’m now a fan. Everything is made with so much love, balance, and bold flavor, it honestly blew me away. I’m telling all my friends to come here. The only downside? I can’t stop eating. Seriously, send help—this food is addictive.

This restaurant offers a lot of Filipino classics that are done really well. Started with a very tasty sago't gulaman and their fresh kilawin. The kilawin (Filipino-style ceviche) had a good amount of fish (the best part). I had their dinuguan (pork blood stew) as my main and it was delicious; rich and flavorful, and perfect with rice.

I was completely blown away by the quality of the food at this Filipino restaurant. As someone who typically only enjoys homemade Filipino food, I found this place to be exceptionally good—even better than many spots in Little Manila. My girlfriend, who is not Filipino, absolutely loved the Pancit and the refreshing Calamansi Juice. I ordered the Pork Sisig and thought it was great, though I did miss having sili (chili) for the toyomansi dip. The only minor issue was the slightly mushy rice that came with the sisig, which perhaps is a subtle hint to order the garlic rice next time! I am definitely planning a return trip to try the Bulalo and Karekare. Be aware that parking is an issue around the area.
